제19장: 새로운 희망

Chapter 19: New Hope

도시로 가는 길에 어머니가 내게 물으셨다. "장래에 무엇을 하고 싶니?"

On the way to the city, Mother asked me, "What do you want to do in the future?"

나는 잠시 생각하다가 말했다. "무언가 쓰고 싶어요. 고향의 이야기를 기록하고, 마을 사람들의 삶을 기록하고 싶어요."

I thought for a moment and said, "I want to write something, record the stories of my hometown, record the lives of the villagers."

어머니는 말씀하셨다. "좋아, 네가 쓴 글을 꼭 읽어볼게."

Mother said, "Good, I will definitely read the articles you write."

나는 미소를 지으며 말했다. "네."

I smiled and said, "Okay."

그렇다, 나는 글을 쓰고 싶다. 나는 고향의 이야기를 쓰고 싶고, 룬투의 이야기를 쓰고 싶고, 그 농부들의 이야기를 쓰고 싶다. 나는 이 사회에 여전히 매우 힘든 삶을 사는 많은 사람들이 있다는 것을, 이 사회에 여전히 불공평한 곳이 많다는 것을 더 많은 사람들에게 알리고 싶다.

Yes, I want to write. I want to write the stories of my hometown, write the story of Run Tu, write the stories of those farmers. I want to let more people know that there are still many people in this society living very difficult lives, that there are still many unfair places in this society.

어쩌면 내 글이 아무것도 바꿀 수 없을지 모르지만, 적어도 나는 이 이야기들을 기록하고 더 많은 사람들에게 알릴 수는 있다.

Perhaps, my articles cannot change anything, but at least, I can record these stories and let more people know.

이것이 나의 새로운 희망이다.

This is my new hope.
