Chapter 19: New Hope

都会へ向かう途中、母が私に尋ねました。「将来何をしたいの？」

On the way to the city, Mother asked me, "What do you want to do in the future?"

私は少し考えて言いました。「何か書きたいです、故郷の物語を記録し、村人の生活を記録したいです。」

I thought for a moment and said, "I want to write something, record the stories of my hometown, record the lives of the villagers."

母は言いました。「いいわね、あなたが書く記事を必ず読むわ。」

Mother said, "Good, I will definitely read the articles you write."

私は微笑んで言いました。「うん。」

I smiled and said, "Okay."

はい、私は書きたいです。私は故郷の物語を書き、ルントゥの物語を書き、それらの農民の物語を書きたいです。私は、この社会にはまだ非常に困難な生活を送っている多くの人々がいること、この社会にはまだ多くの不公平な場所があることを、より多くの人々に知ってもらいたいです。

Yes, I want to write. I want to write the stories of my hometown, write the story of Run Tu, write the stories of those farmers. I want to let more people know that there are still many people in this society living very difficult lives, that there are still many unfair places in this society.

たぶん、私の記事は何も変えることができないかもしれませんが、少なくとも、私はこれらの物語を記録し、より多くの人々に知らせることができます。

Perhaps, my articles cannot change anything, but at least, I can record these stories and let more people know.

これが私の新たな希望です。

This is my new hope.
