Chapter 12: Xiangling Learns Poetry
第十二章：香菱学诗
Xiangling was a servant girl in the Xue family, brought to the Jia mansion when Baochai arrived. She had been stolen from her parents as a young child and sold into slavery. Despite her hard life, she had a gentle nature and a love for beautiful things.
香菱是薛家的一个丫鬟，随宝钗来到贾府。她小时候被从父母身边偷走，卖为奴隶。尽管生活艰苦，她天性温柔，热爱美好的事物。
One day, Xiangling heard the young ladies of the house writing poems in the garden. She stood quietly behind the trees, listening to their words. Something in her heart began to wake up. She approached Daiyu with shy eyes and asked, "Could you teach me to write poetry?"
一天，香菱听到府里的年轻小姐们在花园里写诗。她悄悄站在树后，听着她们的诗句。她心中的某种东西开始苏醒。她羞涩地走近黛玉问道："你能教我写诗吗？"
Daiyu was touched by Xiangling's sincere desire to learn. "Of course," she said warmly. "Poetry belongs to anyone who loves it." She gave Xiangling a collection of famous poems and told her to read them carefully. "First, learn from the masters. Then find your own voice."
黛玉被香菱真诚的求学之心打动了。"当然可以，"她热情地说，"诗歌属于每一个热爱它的人。"她给了香菱一本名家诗集，让她仔细阅读。"先向大师学习，然后找到自己的声音。"
Xiangling studied the poems day and night. She carried a book with her everywhere, reading while she worked and thinking about words while others slept. At first, her own poems were simple and awkward, but she did not give up. She asked Daiyu for advice and practiced again and again.
香菱日夜研读诗集。她随身带着书，工作时阅读，别人睡觉时思考诗句。起初，她自己写的诗简单笨拙，但她没有放弃。她向黛玉请教，一遍又一遍地练习。
Slowly, her writing improved. Her poems began to show feeling and beauty, surprising everyone who read them. Xiangling's story proved that talent and passion could rise above any circumstance. Even in the hardest life, the love of art could bring light and hope.
