Chapter 2: Daiyu Arrives at the Jia Mansion
第二章：林黛玉进贾府
Lin Daiyu was a young girl from the city of Yangzhou. Her father was a scholar and an official, and her mother had been the youngest daughter of the Jia family. When Daiyu was very young, her mother passed away, leaving her in deep sorrow. Her father, busy with his duties, decided to send her to live with her grandmother in Jinling.
林黛玉是来自扬州的一个小女孩。她的父亲是一位学者和官员，母亲曾是贾家最小的女儿。黛玉很小的时候，母亲就去世了，留下她沉浸在深深的悲痛中。她的父亲忙于公务，决定送她到金陵和祖母一起生活。
The journey was long and tiring. Daiyu traveled by boat and by carriage, watching the countryside pass by through the window. She was a quiet and thoughtful child, with pale skin and dark eyes that seemed to hold a sadness beyond her years. She carried few belongings, but her mind was full of poetry and books.
旅途漫长而疲惫。黛玉乘船坐车，透过车窗看着沿途的乡村风景。她是一个安静爱思考的孩子，皮肤白皙，黑眼睛里似乎藏着超越年龄的忧伤。她带的行李不多，但脑子里装满了诗词和书籍。
When she finally arrived at the Jia mansion, she was amazed by its size and beauty. Servants in fine clothes led her through many gates and courtyards. The walls were painted in bright colors, and the gardens were filled with flowers and tall trees. "This place is like a palace," she whispered to herself.
当她终于到达贾府时，她被府邸的规模和美丽惊呆了。穿着华丽衣服的仆人领着她穿过一道道门和一个个庭院。墙壁漆着鲜艳的颜色，花园里开满了鲜花，种着高大的树木。"这地方就像宫殿一样，"她低声对自己说。
Grandmother Jia wept when she saw her granddaughter for the first time. She held Daiyu close and cried for the daughter she had lost. "You look just like your mother," she said softly. The other members of the family gathered around to welcome the new arrival, each one curious about the quiet girl from Yangzhou.
贾母见到外孙女时流下了眼泪。她把黛玉紧紧抱在怀里，为失去的女儿哭泣。"你长得和你母亲一模一样，"她轻声说。家里的其他成员也围过来欢迎这位新来的客人，每个人都对这个来自扬州的安静女孩充满好奇。
That evening, Daiyu was given a room next to Baoyu's. She lay in bed, listening to the unfamiliar sounds of the great house. She missed her father and her old home, but she knew that this would be her life now. Little did she know that this mansion would become the center of all her joys and sorrows.
那天晚上，黛玉被安排住在宝玉房间旁边。她躺在床上，听着这座大宅里陌生的声音。她想念父亲和老家，但她知道这就是她以后的生活了。她一点也不知道，这座宅院将成为她所有欢乐和悲伤的中心。
