第十三章：闰土的变化
Run Tu is completely different from when he was a child.
闰土和小时候完全不一样了。
The Run Tu of childhood was lively and cheerful, liked to talk, liked to smile. He always had endless things to say, always had endless stories to tell.
小时候的闰土，活泼开朗，喜欢说话，喜欢笑。他总是有说不完的话，总是有讲不完的故事。
The current Run Tu is silent and rarely speaks, rarely smiles. His eyes are filled with exhaustion and helplessness. His face is written with the hardships of life.
现在的闰土，沉默寡言，很少说话，也很少笑。他的眼睛里，充满了疲惫和无奈。他的脸上，写满了生活的艰辛。
I asked him if life is very difficult. He said, it's alright, just a bit tiring. He has to get up early every day, work in the fields, and can't rest until very late at night. All year round, there's no time to rest.
我问他，生活是不是很艰难。他说，还可以，就是累一些。他每天都要早起，下地干活，晚上很晚才能休息。一年到头，没有休息的时间。
I asked him how the children are doing. He said, they're alright, but it's very difficult to go to school. The school is too far, the tuition is too expensive, so he can only let the children attend school for a few years, then go work.
我问他，孩子怎么样。他说，还可以，就是上学很困难。学校太远，学费太贵，他只能让孩子上几年学，然后就去干活。
I looked at him, feeling very sad. Is this the power of life? Can it turn a lively child into a silent adult?
我看着他，心里很难过。这就是生活的力量吗？它可以把一个活泼的孩子，变成一个沉默的大人？
