Chapter 12: The Birth of the Son
Chương 12: Sinh quý tử
A few months later, Bai Suzhen gave birth to a healthy baby boy. They named him Xu Mengjiao. He was a beautiful child, with his father's kind eyes and his mother's graceful spirit. For a brief period, the small family experienced true happiness.
"He is perfect, Suzhen," Xu Xian said, holding his son in his arms. "He is our miracle."
Bai Suzhen watched them, her heart full of both joy and sadness. "He will grow up to be a great man, Xian. I can feel it. He will bring honor to our family."
"Nhìn kìa, nó giống hệt tướng công," Bạch Tố Trinh nói khi bế con.
Xiaoqing was also devoted to the child, acting as a protective aunt. "Don't worry, little one," she would whisper to the baby. "Your auntie will always be here to protect you."
But the peace was short-lived. One afternoon, while Xu Xian was out, the air in the house suddenly grew cold. Bai Suzhen felt a familiar, powerful presence. She looked up to see Fahai standing in the doorway, holding his golden bowl.
"Your time is up, Bai Suzhen," Fahai said, his voice cold and final. "You have committed a great sin by flooding the temple and harming the innocent. You must pay for your actions."
Pháp Hải cầm chiếc bát vàng thần kỳ, đi đến nhà Hứa Tiên, chuẩn bị hoàn thành sứ mệnh trừ yêu.
"Please, Fahai!" Bai Suzhen begged. "Let me stay until my son is older. He needs his mother."
"Justice cannot wait," Fahai replied. He raised the golden bowl, and a powerful light began to pull at Bai Suzhen. She fought against it, but she was still weak from childbirth.
"Xiaoqing! Take the baby!" she cried as she was pulled into the light. "Take care of Xu Xian and Mengjiao! I love them!"
With a final flash of light, Bai Suzhen was gone, imprisoned within the golden bowl. Fahai then traveled to the Leifeng Pagoda by the West Lake and sealed her beneath it. Xu Xian returned to find his wife gone and his heart broken once again. He realized that their time together was truly over, and he decided to become a monk, spending the rest of his days praying for his wife's soul.
