Capítulo 18: Deixando a Casa Novamente
Finally, we were leaving.
Finalmente, estávamos a partir.
Mother and I sat in the car, watching the old house getting farther and farther away. In my heart, I was filled with reluctance to part. This is my home, the place where I grew up, but now, I have to leave it.
A mãe e eu sentámo-nos no carro, a ver a casa velha a ficar cada vez mais longe. No meu coração, estava cheio de relutância em partir. Esta é a minha casa, o lugar onde cresci, mas agora, tenho de deixá-la.
The villagers stood by the roadside, waving to us. I waved to them, watching their figures gradually disappear.
Os aldeões estavam parados à beira da estrada, a acenar-nos. Acenei-lhes de volta, vendo as suas figuras desaparecerem gradualmente.
Run Tu was there too, standing at the very back, silently watching me. I waved to him, and he waved to me too. His eyes were filled with complex emotions.
Run Tu também estava lá, parado lá atrás, a olhar-me silenciosamente. Acenei-lhe, e ele também me acenou. Os seus olhos estavam cheios de emoções complexas.
The car drove faster and faster, the old house disappeared, the villagers disappeared, Run Tu disappeared too. I only saw the road ahead, saw the future ahead.
O carro conduzia cada vez mais depressa, a casa velha desapareceu, os aldeões desapareceram, Run Tu também desapareceu. Só vi a estrada à frente, vi o futuro à frente.
I was going to the city to start a new life. But I would always remember this place, remember these villagers, remember Run Tu.
Ia para a cidade começar uma nova vida. Mas lembrar-me-ia sempre deste lugar, lembrar-me-ia destes aldeões, lembrar-me-ia de Run Tu.
