Chapitre 4 : Souvenirs d'Enfance
I stood in the courtyard of the old house, recalling scenes from my childhood.
Je me tenais dans la cour de la vieille maison, me rappelant des scènes de mon enfance.
At that time, our family was relatively wealthy. Father was a scholar with some reputation in the county seat. Mother was also virtuous, taking care of everything in the family. Every day, I played in the courtyard or read in the study.
À cette époque, notre famille était relativement riche. Père était un érudit avec une certaine réputation dans le chef-lieu du comté. Mère était aussi vertueuse, s'occupant de tout dans la famille. Chaque jour, je jouais dans la cour ou lisais dans le bureau.
I remember one summer afternoon when my friends and I were catching badgers in the melon fields. We ran happily, our laughter traveling far. Suddenly, a badger jumped out from the melon patch. We chased it, running all the way to the riverside.
Je me souviens d'un après-midi d'été où mes amis et moi attrapions des blaireaux dans les champs de melons. Nous courions joyeusement, nos rires voyageant loin. Soudain, un blaireau a sauté du champ de melons. Nous l'avons poursuivi, courant jusqu'au bord de la rivière.
At that time, I was so happy, so carefree. I never thought that one day I would leave this home, leave this familiar place.
À cette époque, j'étais si heureux, si insouciant. Je n'aurais jamais pensé qu'un jour je quitterais cette maison, quitterais cet endroit familier.
Now, I have returned, but everything has changed.
Maintenant, je suis revenu, mais tout a changé.
