Chapter 17: The Broken Dreams
I sat in the courtyard of the old house, thinking about my own dreams.
When I was a child, I had many dreams. I wanted to become a scientist, wanted to become a writer, wanted to become a useful person. I thought that as long as I studied hard, as long as I passed the university exams, my dreams would come true.
Now, I have graduated from university and found a job in the city. But have my dreams come true? Did I become a scientist? Become a writer? Become a useful person?
I feel that I haven't become anything. I am just an ordinary person, living an ordinary life. Going to work and coming home every day, earning money to support my family. My dreams are all broken.
Perhaps, this is reality. There is always a big gap between ideals and reality. Everyone has dreams, but not everyone's dreams can be realized.
I looked at the sky and sighed.
